Perth actor Tristan Gorey feels “privileged” to be iconic soap Home & Away’s sole Logie nomination, though the multi-talented TV doctor can’t quite believe he’s the chosen one with a host of stars around him.

“I heard once that if you can’t see the weak link in the chain, then you’re it,” he told The West Australian.

Up for Most Popular New Talent at the 64th TV Week Logie Awards on August 18, the John XXIII College alumni looks to join the likes of megastar Chris Hemsworth as cast members to have claimed the gong.

Playing the heart-stopping Dr Levi Fowler, Gorey joked that despite his character’s medical credentials he should “go to therapy” to unpack his extra-marital affair with love interest Mackenzie Booth, played by Emily Weir.

With fellow WA castmates Julia Godwin (Dr Bree Cameron) and Ally Harris (nurse Dana Matheson) for company on set, the 29-year-old feels far from out of place.

“We’ve kind of taken over the hospital. It’s now a Perth hospital,” Gorey joked.

Admitting he’d be hopeless administering CPR in a life-or-death situation, the actor revealed when it comes to maintaining his Summer Bay body, he’s got many strings to his bow.

Though none he openly brags about.

“If I went down the archery path, I’d probably accidentally shoot someone. If I went down the Jiu-Jitsu path, I’d be asleep on the mat within a couple of seconds,” he chuckled.

Recently starring in Aussie drama Mystery Road: Origin, the local product credits a fellow WAAPA graduate for forging an industry blueprint.

“Every WA actor kid growing up in Perth knows of Hugh Jackman, you know, he wasn’t from Perth, but he went to WAAPA, and that was always the goal,” he said.

Asked what he’d wish upon the star, Gorey said, “Let’s go to dinner and talk about working together.”
