South Korean auto giant Hyundai is levelling up its vehicle infotainment game, unveiling a new-generation multimedia system which will find its way into more than 20 million cars.

The Hyundai Motor Group this week revealed Pleos Connect, its in-house developed, Android Automotive-based operating system that’s due to launch in the second quarter of 2026.

By 2030, Hyundai claims more than 20 million vehicles across its core brand – as well as Genesis and Kia – will be fitted with Pleos Connect.

Running on a freestanding screen of undisclosed size, Pleos Connect is said to have “unique, customisable and user-friendly features”, while allowing for “maximum openness and scalability of the Android development ecosystem”.

Like many current infotainment systems, it’s designed to be compatible with smartphone applications to make the user experience more familiar, while also integrating functions like split-view and multi-window viewing.

Once a user sets themself up on Pleos Connect, they then have a Pleos ID profile, transferable to any vehicle running the technology.

The new system is just one of the many prongs of future Pleos-equipped, software-defined Hyundai vehicles.

The Pleos software is said to integrate chips and controllers, vehicle operating systems, cloud infrastructure, fleet management, and logistics optimisation solutions.
