As a young girl Model and Provisional Psychologist Julia Edwards had always dreamt of wearing a Cinderella-style gown on her wedding day.

The fairytale dress, so vivid in her imagination, would have a structured waist and full skirt that fit her perfectly.

After getting engaged to Fremantle Dockers player Bailey Banfield, this dream dress finally became a reality.

Designed and handmade by Perth’s Blanc Bridal, the dress also referenced gowns worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1950s with its timeless silhouette and defined waist with volume.

“We kept those classic elements but added a dropped waist and sculptural bust detailing, with structured pieces that stuck out slightly, giving it a modern, fashion-forward edge,” Edwards says.

The second look — a playful mini dress with a frilled skirt and silk halter neckline —was also custom made for Edwards.

“I wanted something that felt fun, effortless, and easy to move in — a dress I could dance the night away in without feeling restricted,” she says.

“After the elegance of my ceremony gown, I loved the idea of changing into something playful and full of movement.”

Jewellery was a statement pair of earrings from Willie Creek Pearls which matched the mother-of-pearl cuff links worn by Banfield and his groomsmen. In one of many personal touches throughout the day, Banfield’s custom tuxedo lining featured a silhouette of his proposal alongside an image of the arbour where they exchanged vows.

As Edwards was completing her first year of clinical masters in psychology in the nine months before the wedding, she leaned on Lara White of White Events to help bring it to life.

Masonmill gardens in the Perth Hills cast a stunning backdrop for the ceremony and reception, giving the wedding the European feel they were after.

“We were trying to create a fusion of modern minimalism and classical European elegance, which was heavily inspired by the natural beauty and architecture of our venue,” Edwards says.

“The venue itself was perfect for that, with its statues, limestone walls, curated hedges, flower beds and a stunning rose garden for the ceremony, all evoking the grandeur of a European estate.”
