The Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its monthly sundowner at Albany’s Historic Whaling Station at Discovery Bay in April.

The monthly business networking event was held on the balcony of the Whaler’s Gallery Cafe on April 10 with entertainment from local musician Kris Nelson and food from the museum’s cafe.

General manager of Albany’s Historic Whaling Station Jen Bane and Albany Tours’ Susan McCabe were provided the opportunity to talk about their businesses to the crowd.

The former whaling station was the last operating station in Australia before it closed in 1978, signalling the end of the Australian whaling industry.

It has since been transformed into a historical museum, reopening in 1980 and holding attractions like the Cheynes IV whale chasing ship and a scrimshawing exhibit by artist Gary Tonkin that opened in 2023.
