OFA 2025: Impressive Jerramungup narrow winners over Lake Grace-Pingrup to remain unbeaten in new season

Jerramungup made an early season statement by knocking off reigning premiers Lake Grace-Pingrup in round two of the Ongerup Football Association on Saturday, with a tight six-point result at Jerramungup. The two teams were well-matched from the start, with the Eagles only three points behind at the end of the first term, but a four-goal second term had the Bombers on top at half-time. The home side booted four goals to three in the third term to trim the deficit to 11 points at the last change. A determined Eagles put it all on the line in the final term, kicking five majors and holding the visitors to only two as they ran over the top to score their second win of the season. New Eagles recruit Riley Holden was a standout for the winners, kicking four majors. Dylan Williams, vice-captain Tate Barrett and Andrew Solomon-Maere chipped in with two majors each while Ben Hislop, Alex Baum and Brendan Lee were outstanding in the 12.16 (88) to 12.10 (82) win. The Bombers managed only five goals after half-time and were best served by prized signing Justin Joyce, Joshua Cameron, Linkin Eaton and Jai Holmes. Jackson Callope booted three goals. Newdegate made a comeback from their crushing loss to the Eagles in the opening round, working hard to keep the edge over Boxwood Hill in another close result in Newdegate. The game was tight throughout but a decisive four-goal third term from the Lions set up the five-point win. The Lions led by 10 points at three-quarter time and Boxwood kicked two goals to one in the final stanza but fell short, 8.8 (56) to 9.7 (61). Harry Goesch, Jorrum Tucker, Riley Bridger and Oscar Goesch were the Lions’ best contributors.
