Perth duo claim Australian National Soapbox Championships in senior and junior divisions in Albany
Perth drivers Sienna Patterson and Estelle Hoffman walked away from the 58th Australian National Soapbox Championships with victories in the senior and junior division respectively on Apex Drive on Sunday.
A total of 23 drivers from Albany and Perth converged on Apex Drive to compete in the 2020 championship, hosted by the Albany Soapbox Club.
Rain delayed the start of the event early in the morning but the action was fast paced once racing began.
In the senior division, 11 drivers took part, including five locals.
Nine locals made up 12 of the competitors in the junior division.
Patterson, from Perth, defeated Albany’s Tayissa Condren while Perth duo Mitchell Lawrence and Jonathon Scarey filled third and fourth respectively in the seniors.
Hoffman proved too strong for her rivals across the day, winning the junior division ahead of Isaac Scarey, who was also from Perth.
Albany pair Saleem McNaught and Christopher Oborne finished third and fourth respectively in the juniors.
Albany Soapbox Club congratulated all the drivers, sponsors and volunteers.
