A police traffic stop with a difference resulted in two women being charged with stealing a motor vehicle yesterday.

The vehicle carrying three people was prevented from leaving the drive-through bottle shop at the Tarcoola Tavern about 3.30pm.

It will be alleged the driver was subjected to a preliminary drug wipe which gave a positive result for cannabis and methamphetamine.

A search of the front passenger located a glass smoking implement and all occupants were taken to the Geraldton Police Station, where the driver allegedly refused a drug test.

A 26-year-old Rangeway woman was charged with stealing a motor vehicle, failing to provide a sample of oral fluid for drug testing and having no driver’s licence.

A 29-year-old Rangeway woman was charged with stealing a motor vehicle and possessing drug paraphernalia

The third occupant was released without being charged.
