Cocaine there ‘in case I get tired’
A driver returning to Perth from Geraldton yesterday was allegedly found carrying cocaine with a street value of between $500 and $1000.
The 43-year-old from Joondanna, Perth, allegedly told police he had it with him "in case I got tired from driving".
The man was pulled over about 10.56am on Indian Ocean Drive, north of Jurien Bay.
Mingenew police searched the man’s car and allegedly found a clipseal bag containing the cocaine, hidden near the rear passenger seat.
He has been charged with possessing a prohibited drug and will face Jurien Bay Magistrate’s Court at a later date.
A Yanchep man and girl have also been charged with drug offences after Mingenew police pulled over their car on Indian Ocean Drive, south of Jurien Bay, about 2pm on Sunday.
Police allege the 16-year-old girl was driving the car without a licence and was carrying cannabis in her handbag.
Officers allegedly found a smoking implement in the car.
The girl has been charged with possession of a prohibited drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlicensed driving.
The man has been charged with allowing an unlicensed driver to drive a car, possession of drug paraphernalia.
