A 38-year-old convicted drug trafficker has been jailed for 10 months for selling and supplying methamphetamine in Geraldton.

Father-of-three Bjorn James Jones appeared in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to selling methamphetamine, supplying methamphetamine and possessing drug paraphernalia.

The court heard a person went to his home in Rangeway on June 1 and purchased 0.1 grams of methamphetamine for $200.

On September 1, a person went to the same address and asked to purchase cannabis. Jones said he didn’t have any cannabis but he had methamphetamine and sold the person 0.1 grams.

Police conducted a Misuse of Drugs Act search warrant on the home on September 5.

Jones was convicted of possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply in 2013, and selling cannabis in 2013 for which he was given a suspended jail term.

The prosecutor said Jones was a risk to the community and the court needed to send a clear message that this behaviour will not be accepted.

Magistrate Richard Bayly said the only sentencing option available to the court was jail.

Jones will be eligible for parole in five months and he was ordered to pay a $100 fine.
