Four-wheeled nan

With a new bright red car- Merle Element may be the fastest nana on four wheels.

A mother to three, grandmother to six and great grandmother to one- the loving nan unwrapped what may have been the best surprise of all today.

A brand new car.

And it’s all thanks to the efforts of her granddaughter Merita Maas- who rallied her cousins together to procure the gift that created this sweet human interest story.

Mrs Element, who resides in Perth, was in need of transportation to travel to the far-away town of Carnarvon in order to care for an ill friend.

With more than a few troubles under the hood of her old car- it looked like expensive plane flights and long bus trips would be the only way there.

So Mrs Maas decided it was time her nana received a new set of wheels.

Unbeknown to her, Mrs Maas got together all the grandchildren to chip in a few bucks towards the new fiery red car.

Mrs Element was handed her new keys this morning and- once she was able to stop crying- drove her new wheels home.

Even the salesman shed a few tears at the moment- one of a family coming together for one of their own.

So if you see a speedy red nana zipping around- make sure to give her a wave.
