Glowing praise for Allendale Primary School teachers in Geraldton

Allendale Primary School teachers have earned plenty of pats on the back from happy parents after the Department of Education invited people to acknowledge outstanding teachers in public schools.

Parents, students and community members nominated nine teachers from the school, the highest number of any school in the Mid West, during an online nomination process.

The Who Shines at your School? initiative was run in conjunction with the WA Education Awards and The West Australian and acknowledged the good work of more than 710 teachers.

Principal Lisa Criddle said the Allendale school community was very supportive of staff.

“I’m very pleased because this shows the commitment of the staff,” she said.

Ms Criddle praised kindergarten teacher Steph Briggs-Killick, who was acknowledged multiple times during the initiative.

She said the teacher, who was at the start of her career, was committed to her job and parents sought her to teach their children.

“Steph is caring and innovative and has a great relationship with her students and their parents,” she said.

The other Allendale Primary School teachers who shone for their school were Helen Symington, Alida Crothers, Katisha Barrett, Sandy Gauci, Danika Smyth, Kate Cassin, Debra Clarke and Paul Bonavia.

As part of the Statewide initiative, teachers will receive a certificate and their names were published in The West Australian.
