Guardian plans move to 'central location'

The Geraldton Guardian is on the move.

Geraldton Newspapers regional manager Bruce Betts announced today that the company, based in Barker Street, Beachlands, for the past three decades, planned to move to a more customer-friendly, central premises - once a suitable location was found.

“Geraldton Newspapers has been a part of the fabric of this vibrant region for more than 100 years. This will continue forever and a day,” he said.

“We plan to evolve as a newspaper in the midst of change with many exciting enhancements to our business.

“Watch this space for a change of locations to a more customer-friendly, central premises.”

Mr Betts paid tribute to the community for supporting the company’s continued growth in digital publications.

“We reached a milestone with more than 375,000 unique visitors to our digital platforms in the first six months of this year, reflecting strong community support for our news and advertising products,” he said.

“We are excited about the opportunities available through print and digital mediums and trust readers and clients will enjoy taking the journey with us.”

Mr Betts also announced the signing of a two-year media agreement with the Mid West Chamber of Commerce and Industry, reaffirming their partnership.

Mr Betts said the strong relationship over a long time was continuing.

“Small business is the lifeblood of our community and without their support our publications wouldn’t exist,” he said.

“Once again, it is our pleasure to formalise our partnership with the Mid West Chamber of Commerce and Industry.”

The newspaper has been operating since the late 1880s and changed its name to The Geraldton Guardian in 1906.
