House Rules’ Karina Day will be guest speaker at a Women Inspiring Better Business breakfast this Thursday at Spalding Park Golf Club.

It will be the first official Women Inspiring Better Business event since the program was taken over by Regional Development Australia Midwest Gascoyne.

It was previously run by the Small Business Centre Mid West and was salvaged when the centre closed its doors on June 30.

The outgoing SBCMW board unanimously voted to entrust the program to the RDAMG as an interim arrangement until it could be established as a standalone organisation.

The RDAMG has made an application for the incorporation of Women Inspiring Better Business, and is making inroads towards establishing a viable framework for a sustainable organisation.

The women’s group currently has a membership of 450.

RDAMG regional development co-ordinator Barbara Thompson said she was putting a business structure in place and would then call for board member nominations.

She said WIBB was a valued network group for women.

“Women have different needs and different views, and among women we share the knowledge and understanding,” she said.

“Our members are from a wide range of industry sectors, and this network opens the door to many opportunities.”

Ms Thompson said it was time to tackle the issues of equal pay and the under-representation of women in boardrooms.

“It’s not about breaking glass ceilings but it is about giving women opportunities,” she said.

The breakfast starts at 7.30am.
