Planning under way for boarding school reunion
With more than a century of boarders having slept, eaten and studied within the walls of Nagle’s boarding houses, it is safe to say the End of an Era Reunion will be a blast from the past.
A gathering of past staff, boarders, current parents and staff from CBC, St Patrick’s College, Stella Maris College and Nagle Catholic College are preparing for the reunion to commemorate the closing of the boarding facilities.
Boarding started in 1901 at Stella Maris and 1926 for the Christian Brothers College and, after more than a century of operations, is set to finish at the end of this school year.
The reunion’s planning is still under way, but the date has been locked in for Saturday, October 10, at the old St Patrick’s campus.
Gerry Eastman, Pat Mills, Kevin Weir, Peter Cripps, Colin Constantine, Brother Max McAppion and Gary Cripps are a few of the past associates on the organising committee.
Current house mother Kerry Driscoll, who has worked at the facilities for more than two decades, said if their recent meetings were anything to go by, the reunion would be a night for reminiscing.
“On the day we got together at the boarding house it was amazing to sit and listen. There were so many stories and memories being shared,” she said.
“Even some of our more recent boarders are coming and it’s looking to be quite a large affair.”
More details will be released closer to the event. To contribute or find out more, email boardersreunion@ncc.wa. edu.au.
