Police have been able to lay charges through witness descriptions after thieves raided a woman’s Beresford house last week while she walked her dog.

Most of the items allegedly stolen in the raid has also been recovered.

Police say the 61-year-old woman went for a walk about 12.30pm last Wednesday.

On her return, she found someone had entered her home through an unlocked back door and stole jewellery and small electrical items.

Witnesses who allegedly saw three young males jump over her victim’s fence were able to give descriptions to police.

A 16-year-old Waggrakine youth, a 15-year-old Rangeway boy and 16-year-old Rangeway youth were later arrested and charged.

All three were each charged with once count of aggravated burglary and commit and one count of of stealing.

They were released on bail to appear before the Geraldton Children’s Court.

Acting Sergeant Paul Featherstone said the incident was a timely reminder for people to ensure doors and windows were locked at all times.
