Police name man in kitesurfing tragedy

Police have released the name of a kitesurfer who tragically died in the ocean off Point Moore last week.

He was David Lawrence James, 49, of Geraldton.

Police said Mr James was found unconscious in the water by other kitesurfers about 4.30pm on Thursday.

Geraldton Volunteer Marine Rescue Group officers helped bring Mr James to shore, but he could not be revived.

His family have been notified and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
