Police plea: Lock up valuables
Geraldton police are reminding residents to lock up their houses and secure personal items after concerns that a spate of recent thefts could have been avoided.
House burglaries and stolen push bikes have been a problem for local residents recently, police say.
Sergeant Matt Power said people should think twice before leaving their property unlocked.
“When the weather is nice people tend to forget to lock up their houses so we want everyone to remember to check their house is secure before they leave the premises,” he said.
“We’ve also seen a lot of push bikes stolen that were left out the front of houses without a lock which gives opportunistic thieves a chance.
“These things can easily be avoided if people just remember to lock up.”
