Public schools to benefit from extra funding
Public schools across Geraldton are set to benefit from extra funding in school maintenance and upgrades to computing technology.
State Education Minister Peter Collier said an additional $85 million would be spent on WA schools in 2015-16.
Under the maintenance works list, Rangeway and Walkaway primary schools will be part of the playground shade program, while Allendale, Beachlands, Bluff Point and Geraldton Camp School will all have funds spent on exterior painting.
Allendale Primary School will also receive funds for tree maintenance.
In technology upgrades, Geraldton Camp School and the Midwest Behaviour Centre were among the list of beneficiaries.
Geraldton MLA Ian Blayney supported the upgrades.
“Our public schools are world class, and these upgrades will make them even better, ” he said.
The State Government will also match dollar-for-dollar the investment in ICT devices by primary schools, up to $20 million.
