They say a conversation could change a life.

In line with National Suicide Prevention Day today, several Geraldton health organisations will hold a sausage sizzle and raffle to raise funds for the R U OK? Foundation.

R U OK? is a not-for-profit organisation whose vision is to have a world where people who are connected into a community are protected from suicide.

Their mission is to encourage and equip everyone to regularly and meaningfully ask “are you okay?” And believe encouraging conversation could steer someone away from suicide.

To encourage the conversation on a local level Geraldton Homecare Services along with ARAFMI Mental Health Carers and Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service will host a sausage sizzle at 2pm today under the clock tower on Marine Terrace.

People are encouraged to stop in to grab some food or have a chat.

If you or anyone you know needs support, call lifeline on 13 11 14.
