Raema Rose-Spinks is footy mad.

A devoted St Kilda supporter, Ms Rose-Spinks is determined to help raise money for medical research.

St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt’s loss of his sister Maddie to aplastic anaemia earlier this year touched a chord with Ms Rose-Spinks and she’s determined to make a difference.

She is organising a fundraiser for not-for-profit organisation Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision at John Batten Hall on Saturday, August 8 from 10am.

It is a family-friendly barbecue for the whole AFL community, and everyone is asked to come dressed in their AFL colours.

St Kilda and West Coast Eagles memorabilia will be for sale on the day, and several local businesses have donated vouchers and items for auction.

Ms Rose-Spinks said she was overwhelmed by the support from the local community.

“Their kindness told me something about the people of Geraldton, they’re very generous and they’re very good,” she said.

Ms Rose-Spinks is passionate about raising money for medical research to help others who are battling the same condition as Maddie.

She said she hoped the event brought the AFL community together.
