Antonino Micale narrowly avoids custody after trapping former support worker inside his home for two hours

A man in his 60s is facing a deprivation of liberty charge after he allegedly nailed his former support worker’s front door shut and threatened him with an axe. Antonino Micale appeared from custody in Fremantle Magistrates Court on Friday, a day after he allegedly went to a house in Willagee, nailed the front door closed and for two hours threatened to hurt the support worker inside. Police prosecutor Don Freer told the court the 61-year-old believed his former NDIS support worker was sleeping with his wife, from whom he has now separated. Sgt Freer said Mr Micale had been stalking the support worker and harassing him online since his relationship ended. Mr Micale was not required to plead to charges of deprivation of liberty and stalking in court on Friday. Despite police asking for a mental health assessment to be completed first, Mr Micale was granted bail by Magistrate Nicholas Lemmon with a $5000 personal undertaking, a 9pm home curfew and a requirement to report to Fremantle police station daily. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 28.
