Dramatic footage has emerged of the moment heavily armed police tracked down two fugitives in remote WA who were allegedly on the run after kidnapping and trying to murder a man by peppering him with bullets in a New South Wales forest.

Police say three people allegedly kidnapped a 32-year-old man at gunpoint in the coastal town of Port Macquarie on November 16.

The man was taken to a remote forest in Bago Bluff National Park — about 35km west of Port Macquarie — where he was allegedly shot multiple times in the arms and legs.

The man was found in Bago by NSW Police the following day, where he told them he was kidnapped by a group of three.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

Police allege two of the kidnappers — a 25-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman — drove across the country in a Holden Trax SUV before crossing the border into WA on November 20.

Kalgoorlie Detectives, tipped off by NSW Police, formed an arrest team to hunt down the car.

After conducting local inquiries, police established that the couple’s car had mechanical issues and was parked in scrubland about 100m from the Balladonia Roadhouse.

Dramatic vision of the arrest shows up to five officers circling the car before smashing open the back window and dragging the driver out of the front seat.

An officer suffered minor facial injuries as a result of the arrest.

A search of the car also revealed a loaded, sawn-off rifle.

The pair were taken into custody through the deployment of a “high-risk arrest strategy” and were extradited to NSW earlier this week.

NSW Police Inspector Peter O’Reilly told media the 32-year-old victim was discovered by a trail runner naked and bleeding.

The 38-year-old woman was charged with kidnapping, shooting with intent to murder, possession of a shortened firearm without authority, possession of ammunition without a license and possession of an unauthorised pistol.

The man was charged with kidnap and shooting with intent to murder.
