Emergency as police negotiate with man inside Queensland home

An emergency has been declared as police are negotiating with a man inside a home in Queensland’s Fraser Coast region.

Police attended a Hood Street address in Urangan just before 3am Friday for a welfare check.

Officers began negotiations with a male resident of the address upon arrival.

An emergency declaration was made under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) about 4.30am.

Hood Street, Esplanade, Marine Court and Pulgul Street are encompassed in the declaration, with those inside the exclusion zone asked to stay inside until further notice.

Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area, with traffic diversions in place.

Paramedics remain on standby as of 8am Friday, however a spokesperson has confirmed “no patients have required assessment at this time”.
