10-year-old boy accused of burglary, threatening woman in her 60s and stealing car in Rangeway, Geraldton

A 10-year-old boy was charged over a weekend of offending that detectives allege included threatening a woman in her 60s and stealing her car. Geraldton detectives allege the offending occurred on Sunday, December 4 and involved the 10-year-old boy and an 18-year-old co-accused. It’s alleged the 18-year-old, Lex Harvey and the juvenile attempted to force their way into a house on Rifle Range Road about 3.15am when an occupant woke and blocked the door while family members called police. Later, the group allegedly forced entry to a home on Kenny Crescent and threatened the woman in her 60s who woke to the noise. Detective Senior Sergeant Bruce McDonald claims the 10-year-old was involved in threatening the occupant, stealing her car keys and driving away in a stolen Toyota Camry. “We are obviously very concerned a 10-year-old boy was out at this time of the night committing serious (alleged) criminal offences and we will be working with other agencies to address this issue,” he said. The boy was released on bail on charges of attempted burglary, aggravated burglary and stealing a motor vehicle to reappear in Geraldton Children’s Court on December 20.
