Activewest Stadium to get more car parking to complement new facilities
With the completion of the new courts at Activewest Stadium, the City of Greater Geraldton will increase car parking to cope with the increased capacity.
The new car park will be constructed at the rear of the newly completed stadium, with works starting on Tuesday.
Works will take about four weeks to complete and will add at least another 50 bays to what is one of the busiest facilities in Geraldton.
City of Great Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said “it will considerably increase accessibility to all the facilities available in the Eighth Street Sporting Precinct.”
The works are expected to cost $380,000 with the City still exploring the possibility of integrating the new carpark into the CCTV network.
It comes off the back of the $4.5 million stadium upgrade completed earlier this month adding another four courts to the facility, with an official opening to be held in February.
Traffic and pedestrian management will be in place, with the public encouraged to exercise caution until the work is finished.
