Alex Ducas remains strong prospect for Wildcats as they look to build defence
Alex Ducas is on the radar of the Perth Wildcats after another disappointing season when they just scraped into the finals.
The Wildcats’ season ended when they lost to Cairns on Sunday, placing them in the middle of the table for the second consecutive year after they missed the post-season for the first time in 35 years in 2022.
However, Wildcats general manager of basketball Danny Mills believes they have enough talent and options to build a successful team.
The club is in talks with the majority of the squad to return despite finishing in fifth place though an emphasis has been placed on rebounding and defence when recruiting, given that has been a weakness in the last two seasons.
One recruit in the frame is former Buccaneer and Geraldton-born Alex Ducas as he is in the final collegiate season, with the club in talks with the 6ft 6 guard.
Saint Mary’s sit top of their West Coast division with Ducas scoring 18 points to go with six rebounds in their most recent win over Portland.
There are only four games left in the season before March madness begins with Saint Mary’s certain to qualify even if they do not end up winning their division.
