Australia Post confirms contractor’s truck fire on Christmas Eve destroyed parcels destined for the Mid West

Some Mid West residents were delivered bad news this festive season when last-minute festive parcels went up in flames after a truck caught fire on Christmas Eve. An Australia Post spokesperson confirmed the trailer fire in Carnarvon on Tuesday, December 24 had destroyed parcels that were on board a contractor’s truck. “Australia Post has contacted senders where possible and asks that customers also contact their sender to find out next steps,” the spokesperson said. “Customers with any queries can contact us on 13 POST (13 76 78).” It is understood the driver was not injured but the truck was engulfed by flames. The truck was carrying items to be delivered to Geraldton, Northampton, Kalbarri and Mullewa addresses. It is understood the cause of the fire is still under investigation and that some, but not all, the packages aboard came from Australia Post. The contractor has been contacted for comment.
