Australia Post is reminding customers leading into the busy Christmas period to secure their parcels, either by regularly checking mailboxes or choosing to take advantage of secure lockers.

With less than a month before Christmas, friends and family choosing to deliver the Christmas cheer are scrambling to get mail sent for the festive season.

Australia Post reminded the community not to forget about securing their own post.

“Please clear all your letter boxes and porches of parcels before they are stolen,” Australia Post said.

“We take our responsibility to deliver mail and parcels in our care seriously and the vast majority of items make it to their destination safely.”

Australia Post advised communities to take advantage of free, 24/7 parcel locker at Geraldton Post Shop for peace of mind.

“Customers concerned about security or wanting a convenient alternative to home delivery can sign up for a free MyPost account and choose to have their mail and parcels redirected to their local post office or a PO Box,” they said.

Australia Post said theft after delivery was a criminal offence and encouraged anyone who suspects their mail is stolen or tampered with to contact police.

West Australians have until December 7 for standard parcel post or December 14 for express post to secure pre-Christmas delivery. For same-State cards and letters, the pre Christmas cut-off is December 19 and December 15 for interstate.

For any delivery service concerns, help and support contact 13 POST.
