Aztecs are still the team to beat as they have been for the past three seasons, notching their seventh straight win for the year and extending their unbeaten run to 35 straight games on Tuesday night.
Since going down in the 2020 grand final, Aztecs have not looked back as they appear on track for a third straight unbeaten season after downing the Lightning 57-34.
Aztecs’ smallest margin this year was six goals back in round two but they have won by double-digit scorelines ever since and a Lightning side coming off a shock loss to Falcons were no match with the two-time defending champions pulling further away at each break.
In the other clash, Pumas solidified third place on the ladder, moving a game clear of the Lightning as they eased passed the Falcons 52-33.
The Falcons ended their more than a year-long losing streak last week against the Lightning, but could not carry that momentum forward to produce another upset.
Falcons will take on Kazuals next week who are coming off a bye, while Aztecs look to make it 36 consecutive wins when they take on the Pumas.
