Arnhem Land rapper Baker Boy will travel to Geraldton in April for the second annual Fools Fest.

The 21-year-old rapper, dancer and activist will headline the City of Greater Geraldton’s all-ages, drug and alcohol free festival on April 7.

Hailing from the remote Northern Territory communities Milingimbi and Maningrida, Danzal Baker features a mixture of English and Yolgnu Matha language in his songs.

Baker Boy locked himself in as an artist to keep an eye on when he clocked in at number 17 and 76 in the 2017 Triple J Hottest 100.

He’ll be joined on stage by another Triple J regular, 17-year-old Perth-based producer and rapper Arno Faraji.

Mayor Shane Van Styn said this year’s Fools Fest would be massive.

“Fools Fest was such a great success last year that planning started for the next event straight away,” he said.

“Baker Boy and Arno Faraji have been making waves around Australia and it’s because of their high-energy and catchy tunes.

“It’s great that we can lock these musicians in for Geraldton and bring some massive acts to the region.”

Also joining the line-up is jazz hip hop band Pow! Negro, indie punk rockers Sly Withers, Dallas Woods, Zenwire and Branzian.

Fools Fest will also feature the Sweet Orange Silent Disco, a live art battle, skate demos, dodgeball, photo booth and chill out spaces.

The festival will kick off at 2pm at Stow Gardens on the Geraldton Foreshore.
