Bookings are now open for events to be staged during one of the most celebrated weeks on the Geraldton calendar — Seniors Week.

Preparations for Seniors Week 2024 are under way with committee members, volunteers and staff at the QEII Seniors and Community Centre busy getting a jam-packed schedule ready.

Seniors Week this year runs from Friday, November 8, to Sunday, November 17, and a diverse ranger of free and paid activities are being planned to engage, inspire and connect over-60s in the community.

The week will open with the Friends of the Queens Park Theatre showing the film A Stitch in Time at the QPT.

Other activities include an Aboriginal cultural experience, quiz afternoon, community lunch and morning tea, arts workshops and a brand new event for this year — the mayor’s mystery morning tea, instead of last year’s bus tour with the mayor.

City of Greater Geraldton mayor Jerry Clune encouraged all seniors in the community and their loved ones to jump in and take part in the week.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for seniors to connect with one another, learn new things and celebrate the vibrant lives they lead,” he said.

Bookings opened on Monday and those interested can book their spot by calling into the QEII Centre at 88 Duralcher Street or calling 9956 6636.

“We invite the whole community to participate in this event to show appreciation for our seniors and to foster intergenerational connections,” Mr Clune said.

Copies of the program are available at the QEII Centre. For more information visit the city’s website.
