Boy, 15, pleads guilty to involvement in alleged chainsaw attack on German tourist in Bluff Point toilet block

The youngest of three boys charged over a shocking public toilet ambush on a tourist has admitted to kicking the 24-year-old before his co-accused allegedly struck him with a chainsaw. The 15-year-old boy pleaded guilty to assault with intent to rob in the Geraldton Children’s Court on Tuesday, admitting his involvement in the violent chainsaw attack. He will be sentenced on October 29. He also pleaded guilty to stealing a pair of gloves and a torch from Bunnings valued at over $100. Police claim on Monday, August 5, a group of teenagers approached two German tourists using the public toilet block on Kempton Street in Bluff Point and demanded property and cash. The court was previously told a 17-year-old co-accused revved a battery powered chainsaw, while a 16-year-old pulled out a pocket knife. Defence lawyer Kate Fry said the 15-year-old teenager admitted to being inside the toilet block and kicking the 24-year-old tourist. The court was previously told the 17-year-old struck the 24-year-old tourist in the head with the chainsaw, causing a large gash which required 12 stitches. The teenagers fled and the two tourists barricaded themselves inside the toilet block before calling police. The 15-year-old is on bail and must reside at an address in either Geraldton or Mt Magnet. Two co-accused, aged 16 and 17, are remanded in Banskia Hill Juvenile Detention Centre. The 17-year-old is alleged to have been in possession of the chainsaw, while the 16-year-old is accused of wielding a pocket knife. Both are yet to enter pleas. They are next due to appear in court on September 24.
