Brian Gregory Little: Man claims he was ‘on gear’ when he held golf club while his mother was sleeping

A man who woke his mother up standing by the bed with a golf club, leaving her so scared she locked herself in the bathroom, has told the court he was high on methamphetamine at the time. Bryan Gregory Little, 39, appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court via video link from Greenough Regional Prison on Thursday to apply for bail. He was remanded in custody on May 16 after he presented to court acting erratically. He pleaded guilty to being armed to cause fear and breaching protective bail conditions. He is yet to enter pleas to four counts of stealing, home burglary and aggravated common assault for unrelated matters. Little visited his mother’s house in the early hours of the morning on May 16. The court was told the woman woke to Little standing by the bed with a golf club and became so frightened she ran out of the room and locked herself in the bathroom. In applying for bail, defence lawyer Brad Romano told the court his client’s aunt was dying in hospital and her time was running out. Little interrupted the proceedings, saying: “I’m not a bad bloke, man . . . I don’t do burglaries.” He said he was only in the house to collect belongings, but admitted he was using methamphetamine. “I love my mother, I would never hurt her. I was on gear,” he said. “I got weight back on in here. I’m off the meth and s....” Magistrate Kelly Thompson said she would only consider home detention bail. A report was ordered to assess the suitability of his relative’s address and Little was remanded in custody. He will reappear on Thursday, June 27.
