Buccs one win away from SBL grand final
The S&K Electrical Geraldton Buccaneers are one win away from a 2017 State Basketball League grand final appearance.
The Buccs went one-up in their best of three semifinals series against the Joondalup Wolves with a seven-point win at Activewest Stadium tonight.
The Wolves led by three points at the end of the first and second periods before the Buccs stormed home in the third and fourth to win 84 to 77.
Dwayne Benjamin (34 points) and Mo Barrow (23 points) led the scoring for the home side.
The Buccs will face the Wolves in Joondalup next weekend for week two of the semifinals.
One more win and the Buccs will advance to the grand final, against the Willetton Tigers or the Perth Redbacks.
Joondalup need to win two games against the Buccs to end Geraldton's season and advance.
The Redbacks defeated the Tigers 85 to 81 in week one of their semifinals series tonight.
