Geraldton’s Callum Williamson has continued his impressive early season form to win the third round of the Sprintcar Association WA Sprintcar Series.

Williamson was once again unrivalled at the Scardifield King of Wings event at the Perth Motorplex last week, streaking to his third straight win in a row with Midland Truck Racing.

It is the first time in series history a driver has won the first three shows of the season back to back.

The event drew the strongest field this season, with 17 cars on hand and several new drivers entering the field.

Williamson took his opening heat with an audacious last-lap pass on Kaiden Manders after a back-and-forth battle, finishing in a time of 2:03:472 just 0.675 seconds ahead of his rival.

He took the second heat after being locked in another tight battle, this time with Mitchell Wormall, passing him on the seventh lap and holding on to win by 0.313 seconds.

They were the class of the field with Manders, who was third at more than four seconds behind.

Shaun Bradford took the third heat with a time of 2:03:503 to ensure he would start on the front row beside Williamson for the feature.

Bradford got the jump off the line but Williamson railed around the top to grab the lead out of turn two.

Further back, Manders made it three wide with Ryan Lancaster and Murray Iwanow before Iwanow impressively grabbed third place.

Wormall was scheduled to start up front but a flat right rear before the start of the race forced him to replace the tyre and make a charge from the rear.

All of this came as little consequence to Williamson who, after sweeping to the lead in the first lap, kept pumping in consistent laps in the mid-15 seconds to build a gap off the front.

Wormall was superfast, moving into fifth place after passing a ton of cars.

However, there was jeopardy on lap eight when rookie Joe Latham made contact with the wall at turn two and came to a halt, bringing out the yellow light.

Williamson had to surrender his big lead as the field bunched up for the restart but he would prove to be too strong and take a dominant win, finishing more than four seconds clear of Bradford.

It wasn’t all small sailing for Williamson across the whole event, who was pulling double duty racing with his own team’s number 3 in the Maddington Toyota Sprintcars event.

He encountered trouble in that event which forced him to start the feature race from the back of the field.

“Unfortunately we started our night with a few engine dramas and didn’t get a good qualifying time, which put us at the back of the heat,” the team said.

However, the team played their joker for double points and Williamson charged through the field with a series of outstanding moves to come away with seventh place.

Williamson will be back in action at his home track when the sprint cars series comes to the Geraldton Speedway on December 10.
