Cape Burney fatality: Family of Kyle Jones pays tribute after death in head-on crash with truck on Brand Hwy

The family of a man killed in a head-on crash with a truck in Cape Burney at the weekend have paid tribute to a son and brother with a “heart of gold” who would “do anything for anyone”. Kyle Jones, 28, pictured, was driving a Toyota Avalon north on Brand Highway near the Greenough River Road about 5.35pm on Saturday when his car collided on a bend with a Kenworth truck travelling south. He died at the scene. A WA Police spokesman said Geraldton police and St John Ambulance attended the scene and the 58-year-old truck driver was taken to Geraldton Health Campus for treatment of minor injuries. He has since been discharged. There were no passengers in the car or truck. Roads were closed for the rest of the night as police started their investigation and the crash site was cleared. Mr Jones, originally from Perth, is survived by his parents Tracey and Mal Jones and his brother Ryan. His family described him as a “much-loved son, brother and brother-in-law”. “He loved his family. Adored his brother Ryan. In the last few weeks (he) had a family tatt put on his arm,” Mrs Jones said yesterday. “(He) loved 4WD driving, cooking and his cats Lucky and Keira, who are now unfortunately at the pound looking for a new home. “He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He was far from perfect but had a good heart.” Major crash officers are now investigating the crash.
