Cardinals remain unbeaten as intraclub race closes up in round nine of the Geraldton Hockey Association

With the men away for country week the women took centre stage in round nine of the Geraldton Hockey Association. In the women’s A-Grade, Murchison got past the winless Swans 1-0 with Hayley McGlynn the lone goal scorer. Cardinals continued their march claiming a 2-0 win over the second placed Australs with Gemma Dix scoring a double to ensure they maintained their perfect record so far this season. Women’s A-Reserve saw one surprising result with the ladder-leading Saints Gold held to a scoreless draw by the bottom of the table Swans. Saints Black fared better putting five past the Vets with Tia Hatch, Lisa Norris, Molly McCuish, Addie Robinson and Aimee Hagan scoring to close within two points of the top. Yacht Club won a tight battle with Cardinals 1-0 as Stacey Jarrard scored while Murchison got their own close win as Matilda Fitzgerald broke the deadlock to beat Australs 1-0. All grades will return to the field in round 10 with a double header in the women’s A-Grade kicking off Monday night.
