Carols by candlelight to spark Christmas joy as hundreds of Geraldton families gather at Maitland Park

Geraldton will light up in full holiday spirit this weekend for the annual carols by candlelight event, celebrating the start of the festive season. It is the time of the year when families begin to celebrate Christmas with the first event of the season, arranged by Geraldton Christian Churches, to awaken excitement and joy of the season in the community. Held at Maitland Park on Sunday, hundreds of families will light a candle as the sun goes down as they listen to classic Christmas carols. There will be kids activities from 5-6.30pm, with the carols to begin at 7pm. An abundance of local food vans will be serving up a storm at the event, including Jbcuisine, Shaved Ice, Geraldton-Greenough Farmers Market Kitchen, Skeetas, Dark Horse Hire, Lickety Sticks, Bubble Bliss and of course, Fusions Gelato. Carols committee chair Natalie Norman said there was a fantastic line-up of local artists as well as the singing of traditional Christmas carols. “You will be able to purchase food from a number of food vans and grab a candle or glowstick,” she said. “Bring your rug or chair and enjoy this great Christmas event put on by the Christian Churches of Geraldton.”
