There may be 216 days until Christmas, but the City of Greater Geraldton is getting into the festive spirit early.

Local artists are invited to help transform wooden trees for a Christmas Tree Trail in the CBD.

The multi-dimensional trees will take up a prime location along Marine Terrace, showcasing each artist’s interpretation of Christmas.

Mayor Shane Van Styn said it was a great opportunity for artists to show off their work.

“It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to showcase your artwork in one of Geraldton’s most prominent locations,” he said.

“Especially during such a busy time of year.

The decorated craypots were such a hit last Christmas, and we expect the Christmas Tree Trail to be just as popular.

“I encourage all artists to start thinking about what Christmas means to them and get involved in this great project.”

Twelve artists will be selected to participate and will receive $1000 for the cost of materials.

Expressions of interest close on June 6. Installations must be completed by November 23.
