As part of the WA Country Women’s Association’s 100th anniversary, the Geraldton-Greenough branch will hold a recruitment drive to encourage people to join.

The association aims to support the welfare and wellbeing of people, and strive for equal rights between the country and the city.

Branch president Beverly Brosnan said more members were always welcomed to join.

“We have a small and relatively young membership of women, most of whom work full time,” she said.

“We love to come together regularly outside working hours at the Geraldton Cultural Trust (The Residency) for monthly meetings and Saturday Social Sewing twice a month.

“There are always plenty of laughs, we share the trials and tribulations of life with humour, and we always love to meet new people.”

The CWA has a strong hand in helping the community, often chipping in for charitable causes.

In the past year, the organisation has sewn fidget blankets for the Geraldton Regional Hospital, and has supported a jamboree for a local scout group, among other projects.

As part of a recruitment drive, Queens Park Theatre will be lit up blue on Sunday, July 7, to recognise the association’s 100th year.

Also on Sunday, the Geraldton-Greenough branch will have a stall at the Platform Markets where people can support the group, buy a range of handcrafted and homemade products and find out more about the branch.
