A man and woman were rescued when their small boat capsized off Geraldton today.

According to police, the couple were putting down craypots about 8.30am when they were struck by a large wave which overturned their five-metre long vessel.

Police said the couple, aged in their mid 40s, were rescued by nearby fishermen and were only in the water for a handful of minutes.
