Demons look to bounce back against Country Week as B52s threaten to take off at the top of the ladder

Men’s A-grade games will have a tough act to follow after the skill on display in the latest round of Geraldton water polo action. The B52s will take on Rats, followed by the Country Week side up against Demons. The B52s are sitting on top of the league, having already built a seven-point cushion over the Demons after beating them by four goals in last week’s top-of-the-table clash The Demons will be seeking redemption against an in-form Country Week side so they do not fall too far off the pace. Women’s A-grade matchups include Serpents taking on Demons and the in-form B52s versus Rats. Serpents will hope to at least get a team in the pool after being unable to field a side last round, forfeiting to B52s. Tenielle Hawke and Ellie Pead will both look to add to their impressive goal tally, while the Demons will also be in a confident mood after their close but decisive victory over Rats last round. In B-grade men, B52s Relics take on Demons, with both sides looking to add to impressive tallies from previous rounds, while Rats meet B52s in the other match-up. In women’s B-grade Rats play Demons followed by B52s against Serpents in the final match of the round. The Demons will be hoping to bounce back after the 7-1 mauling from B52s last weekend. C-Grade men’s side Demons go against B52s White in the first match of the round this afternoon with the Demons still smarting after the 14-0 loss in round 3, while Rats take on B52s Blue. In C-grade women’s matches, B52s take on Rats Black, and Rats Orange go against Serpents. With Rats Orange and Rats Black tied for top spot, the season is shaping as a competitive one for the C-grade women. Geraldton Water Polo president Anouska Barnes spoke about the quality of play so far this season. “We continue to say this, but the junior players are the ones to watch this season,” she said. “Watching the A-grade games over the weekend and seeing how many juniors are playing up and holding their own makes me extremely happy and excited for future seasons to come.” Round four games begin on Friday night with Demons and B52s White diving in at 5.30pm.
