Designated Drinker makes it three in a row at Geraldton Turf Club as Durrant Racing enjoys big weekend

Adam Durrant’s Jeanella took the second win of her fledgling career ahead of favourites Hell Raider and Oristano in what was a big weekend for Durrant racing with four wins across Perth and Geraldton. It followed up Minsk Moment winning the $100,000 Eastingwood Stakes at Ascot, with wins also for Mia Gusto and Category Three. Four-year-old gelding Corn Cob continued his strong run of form with second place in race six of the Geraldton Turf Club meet on the weekend, with winner Minus Looks clinching just his ninth victory in 66 starts. Corn Cob finished in a dead heat with Gordon Spowart’s Sans Le Sou and has now taken at least a place finish in 13 out of 24 race starts, with a winning record of 42 per cent. Dream Evil took home the win in race one, with the heavily backed favourite easily accounting for the field and finishing one and a half lengths in front of Miss Eugen in second. Ask An Angel continued her good form with a win in race three, edging out ahead of Lucy Da Grey and Eliminate. After failing to place in her first six races she has now won four of her last five in the past 12 months and is starting to build a strong body of work at the Turf Club. Westozi was the upset winner of race four, with the $10 outsider coming home by 0.63 lengths ahead of You Can Tell Me in what was the first win of his career. Designated Drinker made it three in a row at the Turf Club with a win in race five in a photo-finish with Art Admirer, squeaking home by 0.08 lengths. In the final race of the day, Blue Cheyenne took home the win ahead of favourite Albert by just 0.06 lengths. It was just the second win of Blue Cheyenne’s career, with both coming this season.
