East Fremantle go down to Claremont in dramatic WAFLW grand final
East Fremantle and its Mid West talent fell short in the WAFLW grand final, going down to Claremont 3.2 (20) to 2.5 (17) in a nailbiter on Sunday.
Local pair Tiani Teakle and Samara Pluschke both featured for the Sharks on Sunday, as the side was clashing against Claremont in the decider for a third straight year.
The two teams had split the results, with Claremont winning in 2022 and East Fremantle taking the title last year.
Pluschke had featured in the previous two and had not been in the side since round 14 but returned on Sunday to play in her third grand final.
While for Teakle, this was her first piece of grand final action, and it ended in dramatic fashion with Claremont kicking a late goal and winning by three points.
The wet conditions and cold weather resulted in the low-scoring contest that came down to the wire, with Claremont getting redemption for their semifinal loss to East Freo just two weeks prior.
Teakle finished with eight disposals, two marks and three tackles, while Pluschke had seven disposals, four tackles and an inside 50.
