East Fremantle Football Club will be on the lookout for the best female footballers in the Mid West at this year’s talent search day.

The Sharks will be putting together a team to find the best in the region to offer pathways into the WAFLW competition.

Last year they identified eight players who formed the inaugural Mid West squad coached by Nathan Johansen.

The squad was selected following a talent identification day held prior to the football season and all eight girls gained a scholarship with Mid West Academy of Sport (MWAS).

The girls are exposed to strength and conditioning training, gym work and dedicated skill drills, that further enhance their natural abilities.

Throughout the season, the girls trained with the squad one night per week, incorporating nutrition workshops with Pilates and gym workouts.

During the year, all the girls were rewarded with games at East Fremantle in the Rogers Cup and at Reserves level.

They all performed extremely well at that level and carried that form into the GNWFL season where they regularly perform at a high standard.

On the back of consistent strong performances, Tayah Palmer was selected to play in the Rogers Cup premiership team, while Jasmine Johansen and Olivia Bidwell were selected in the WA State Country team.

This season’s talent identification day will be held on Friday, August 12 at Railways Football Club from 3.30pm to 5.15pm.
