Family search for missing person Brenton Shar for weeks as Geraldton police launch investigation

Police have welfare concerns for 37-year-old Brenton Shar from Geraldton, who has not been seen by his family for more than two weeks.

Geraldton police were contacted by concerned family members on Thursday, May 9, who reported they had not seen Mr Shar in 10 days.

Acting officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Nathan Johansen said local police were conducting checks on the missing man’s bank cards and mobile phone to try to trace him, and making other lines of inquiry to locate him.

“His phone was on, but it is no longer on,” he said.

“We have received third-hand information about being sighted at various locations.”

A comment on the WA Police Mid West-Gascoyne Facebook page by Courtney Mongoo said the family had been looking for him for two weeks.

Sen. Sgt Johansen asked anyone who saw Mr Shar to contact Geraldton Police Station and provide an accurate description.

“We just want to check his welfare to ensure he is OK. He is not in trouble,” he said.

“Don’t try and hide from police, be forthcoming. Once we find out he’s OK, he is good to be on his way.”
