A sundowner networking event to explore mental health in the mining sector will be hosted by a FIFO father who knows all too well about breaking the cycle of depression and addiction.

Join FIFO Mental Health Guy and founder of the Association for Mental Health in Mining Lachie Samuel when he hosts his second event in Geraldton this Friday evening.

Mr Samuel aims to break the stigma of men’s mental health in the mining industry. He brings the industry together with the mental health community to help find solutions.

The sundowner invites collaboration, change and creating connections in a roundtable-style discussion. Geraldton businesses will have the opportunity to discuss their views and solutions to improving mental health over food and drinks.

Local mental health advocate Jenna Denton will also be speaking at the event.

“The reason I speak about it — essentially why I do what I do — is because I’ve seen it, I’ve experienced it in myself, my partner and friends and I believe suffering isn’t necessary,” Mr Samuel said.

Join the free mining mental health sundowner on Friday, November 25 from 6pm at the Spalding Golf Club on Green Street.
