Nestled just behind EB Games, Laneway Cafe is a delightful surprise waiting to be discovered. While its tucked-away location might require a bit of sleuthing, the reward is a cosy atmosphere and an unforgettable culinary experience. There are plenty of places to park and sit at this new cafe, where we didn’t feel rushed or under pressure to order or finish our lunch. We started with a banana, mango, and pineapple smoothie — a tropical medley that was refreshingly bright. The wonderful staff gave us the choice of ice cream, yogurt, or both — a thoughtful touch that elevated the experience. My partner couldn’t stop raving about its creamy and fruity notes. For myself, I also opted for a cappuccino with an extra shot, which was smooth, mellow and delivered just the right caffeine kick. It was well crafted, and a real testament to the barista’s skill. To accompany our drinks, we shared a salami, cranberry, and spinach panini — and what a simple masterpiece it was. The bread was crisp on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, and the flavor combination hit all the right notes — savoury, sweet and slightly tangy. Cooked to perfection, the cranberries really added a festive touch too. At just over $25 for everything, the value was excellent. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick pick-me-up or a cosy bite, Laneway Cafe ticks all the boxes. Before you leave, don’t forget to pop into the art and craft store opposite — it’s perfect for last-minute gift inspiration. We both highly recommend Laneway Cafe for its hidden charm, great flavours and relaxed vibe. This gem is worth every bit of the hunt.
