It has to be said that when a business specialises in one specific food, you really hope what they make is going to be good.

That was my hope for my latest Flavour Report venture, which took me to the Tasty Little Cheesecake shop. I say shop, but that’s not quite the case.

Cheesecake creator and connoisseur Trudi either operates from her home, does deliveries, or you can buy her goods from Tarcoola Takeaway at Tarcoola Shopping Centre.

Either way, the process of ordering and collecting the cakes is simple. Trudi is willing to go out of her way to ensure deliveries are convenient and speedy. TLC has its own website and Facebook page, with the latest flavour combos and prices clearly displayed.

On this occasion, we opted for a selection of the bite-size treats and a couple of “juniors”. We went for a variety of flavours, with our favourites being lemon meringue, s’mores, salted caramel, and banoffee.

All in all, the order came to $70 for two juniors and 25 bites.

We did not feel shortchanged at all, and the bite-sized treats were a great way of trying flavours, with the junior treats easily shared between two hungry people.

Overall, the cheesecakes were exactly what you would expect — smooth, creamy, and with a crispy textured base.

Each bite or spoonful hit the spot, and the flavours made for an interesting tasting experience.

The bite-sized cakes were a hit all around, but only really gave a taste of the flavours. The junior cakes were well worth the extra money. Each cake was served around the family, and the banoffee pie flavour — OMG, so, so good.

Everything tasted so fresh, which was not surprising as Trudi had only just finished making them.

It would be difficult not to recommend TLC on so many levels. For a smoko snack, a sweet evening treat, or a full-sized cake for a big celebration, Trudi seems to have all bases covered.

If cheesecake is not your thing, then TLC is clearly not for you. But if you want a cheesecake with a pleasing difference, I would strongly recommend you check out Trudi’s Facebook page and put in an order.
