Footy stalwart John Sims makes Mullewa debut on the green

In football, the sport he is best known for, it would be called a recruiting coup.

A couple of years ago, talented sportsman John Sims made a “handshake agreement” with a mate, Lloyd Morgan.

And last weekend, Sims delivered on his promise while upstaging old mates and his old lawn bowls home.

Sims played his first game of lawn bowls for Mullewa and he blew Wonthella “out of the water”.

The 100-plus game and 1979 premiership player with WAFL club East Fremantle and six-time grand final coach with Rovers, Sims was at his best against his old club mates and on their dunghill.
